Best Luxury 5 Star Resorts In Seminyak Bali

Kicking things off with the highest of the high end, this section covers the most opulent (and expensive) side of the 5 star scale.

#1 W Bali – Seminyak – Best For Socialising and Partying.

Part of the Marriott’s younger-leaning upscale brand, the W Bali is one of the best luxury hotels in Seminyak for a lively atmosphere. The property boasts late-night pool access, DJs playing music every evening, and a free-flow champagne brunch every Sunday.

LOCATION | Situated in a prominent seafront location between Batu Belig Beach and Petitenget Beach, the W has several beach clubs a short stroll away. There are also tons of delicious dining options within a 15-minute radius.

ROOMS | All of the huge rooms are outfitted in a crisp modern style and boast views of either the sea or the garden. For something even more luxe, there are also one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom villas with their own pools.

FACILITIES | One of the best 5 star hotels in Seminyak Bali for people seeking a lively social scene, the W’s seaside Woobar has several resident DJs who pump up the ambience nightly.

For dining, there’s the grill restaurant, aptly titled Fire, for seared meats. But our favourite thing to do on Sundays is splurge on brunch at Starfish Bloo.

When you’re not living it up or need to recover from the over-indulgence, there’s also a 24-hour spa and gym on-site.

#2 The Legian Seminyak – Best 5 Star Hotel Seminyak Bali For Beachfront Activities.

Designed to emulate traditional Balinese housing with an upscale twist, the Legian has one of the prettiest beachside pools in Seminyak, as well as a romantic pavilion on the sand for private dinners.

LOCATION | You couldn’t wish for a more central location, with Seminyak Beach on one side and the centre of town with its numerous restaurants, bars, and shops on the other.

ROOMS | Natural fibres and wood play a leading role in the décor, which features parquet flooring and indigenous artwork on the walls.

The smallest rooms here exceed 1,000 square feet (93 square metres) and come with a decent-sized balcony and a substantial seating area with rattan furniture. There are also several villas with private pool.

FACILITIES | The Legian does wellness activities right. Alongside the typical gym and spa that you’d expect from any of the 5 star resorts Seminyak has to offer, there’s also an on-site nutritionist, yoga, meditation, and beach jogging. Our favourite feature, however, is the three-tiered pool, which overlooks the shore.

The main all-day restaurant has a wide choice of international cuisines, served in a dining room that overlooks the sea.

#3 Avani Seminyak Bali Resort – Best For Families.

The Avani does a good job of catering for adults with children. Not only is there a dedicated kids club with fun activities, but the communal pool is also overlooked by the restaurant so that Mum and Dad can relax with a drink while the youngsters have a splash.

LOCATION | The resort is set a bit further back from the coast, about 15 to 20 minutes from Seminyak Beach.

ROOMS | There are 37 rooms and villas on offer, ranging from 1-bedroom apartments to 3-bedroom plunge pool suites. All of them come with a living room, a kitchenette, and outdoor areas to sit and relax.

FACILITIES | As with many 5 star hotels in Seminyak Bali, a large outdoor pool is at the heart of the Avani. An all-day dining restaurant serving Indonesian cuisine is located just beside the swimming area, though you can also arrange for private dining inside your own villa.

A fitness centre and a kids activity centre round out the facilities.

Best Mid-Range 5 Star Hotels Seminyak Bali

Just a step down from the crème de la crème but still incredibly fancy, these mid-range options cost a little less but still offer a world of indulgence.

#4 Alila Seminyak – Best For Sumptuous Suites.

The Alila combines an eco-friendly ethos with swimming pools, seafood dining, and a prime beachside location.

LOCATION | A short walk from the wide, sandy expanse of Petitenget Beach, the Alila is surrounded by excellent food and drink options.

ROOMS | We’d describe the accommodation here as plush minimalism, combining elegant comfort with a pared-back contemporary aesthetic. All the rooms come with balconies, with the largest options containing three bedrooms.

FACILITIES | When you’re not swimming in one of the several pools or enjoying a massage treatment at the stylish spa, we highly recommend a meal at Seasalt. This beachfront restaurant serves up a huge selection of sustainably caught seafood, including grilled swordfish, mussel salad, and octopus skewers.

The site also contains a gym and a kids club. Bikes and parking are supplied free of charge, so you can explore the wider Seminyak area – and beyond.

#5 Double-Six, Luxury Hotel – One Of The Best Five Star Hotels In Seminyak For Rooftop Drinks.

The Double-Six has a couple of glamorous F&B venues, but it is the rooftop bar with its floating pods that really had us swooning.

LOCATION | The hotel derives its name from the Double Six Beach, a sandy strip right in front of the property that hosts several surf schools.

ROOMS | There are a lot of different room options to choose from at this all-suite hotel, ranging from the 646-square-foot (60-square-metre) Junior Suite to the enormous 8,611-square-foot (800-square-metre) 66 Penthouse.

FACILITIES | One of our favourite areas at this hotel is the Double-Six Rooftop Sunset Bar, a party spot with floating pods that gaze out over the sea. Although many 5 star hotels in Seminyak Bali boast ocean views, few can match the glamour of this unique setting.

Just as stylish is the Plantation Grill, a meat and seafood restaurant that’s an ode to America’s Gilded Age. Rounding out the F&B options are the contemporary Asian eatery Suzie-Q and the poolside Lagoon Bar.

Although the dining and drinking options are what make Double-Six stand out, it also has an outdoor pool, a good-sized fitness centre, and a pretty spa.

#6 The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa – Best For A Spa Escape.

As its name suggests, the Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa has some excellent wellness facilities, including a couple of massage rooms, a sauna, hot and cold plunge pools, and a hair salon.

LOCATION | Stretching along a substantial bit of sandy shoreline, this property is a few steps from Ku De Ta, a restaurant, bar, and beach club that has become a Seminyak institution. A short walk away you’ll also find souvenir shopping at the Seminyak Flea Market.

ROOMS | Darkwood floors and furniture combine with marble bathrooms to deliver a classic upscale ambience. All rooms come with balconies, while the more luxurious lodgings have their own hot tub or private pool.

FACILITIES | We’ve already mentioned the delights of the spa, but you’ll probably find yourself spending plenty of time in the infinity pool, which is a romantic spot to watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand.

The hotel also has a gym, a couple of different restaurants serving Asian and European food, and free private parking.

#7 Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach – Best For Casual Charm And Relaxing Ambiance.

A 5 star hotel in Seminyak that incorporates local design touches throughout, the Hotel Indigo sets itself apart from its competitors by offering a more laidback version of 5 star comfort. There are lots of separate areas to discover, making it feel like a self-contained world dedicated to rest and relaxation.

LOCATION | Just a few steps from Seminyak Beach, there are lots of surf huts nearby for people who want to learn to ride the waves.

ROOMS | The accommodation here has been tastefully designed to combine local flavour and craftwork into the standard model of 5 star hotels in Seminyak Bali.

Choose between balconied king/twin rooms and private villas with their own plunge pools.

FACILITIES | The Hotel Indigo has a gorgeous spa area, as well as a couple of different swimming areas, several casual dining options embracing a mixture of Asian cuisines, and a gym.

Bicycles are provided for a fee, or you can take advantage of complimentary private parking.

Best Budget-Friendly Five Star Hotels In Seminyak Bali

We’re finishing off our list of 5 star hotels in Seminyak Bali with a quartet of properties that are on the cheaper end of the scale, while still delivering supreme comfort and idyllic vacay vibes.

#8 Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort – Best Five Star Hotel Seminyak For Poolside Rooms.

If the idea of being able to wake up and almost immediately jump in the pool sounds appealing, the poolside rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott are an affordable alternative to booking a private villa.

LOCATION | Seminyak Beach and Double Six Beach are a short walk away. The hotel is also pretty close to La Plancha, one of our favourite spots to hang out for tapas and a sociable, bohemian vibe.

ROOMS | Rooms here are understated but tasteful, with Bali-inspired artworks hanging over the beds and a private balcony/patio with every lodging. Our favourite rooms here open directly out onto the communal pool.

FACILITIES | A large outdoor pool runs through the middle of the property, which also offers a gym, a spa, and an all-day restaurant.

Complimentary parking and bikes are available on request.

#9 Grand Mercure Bali Seminyak – Best Value Hotel.

You won’t find many 5 star hotels in Seminyak Bali that have cheaper deals than the Grand Mercure, especially given the quality of the facilities. We’re talking multiple pools, a good spa, and a dedicated children’s club.

LOCATION | The Grand Mercure is set just slightly back from Double Six Beach, a few steps from the Cocoon Day Club, which has an excellent happy hour.

ROOMS | Colourful carpets and decorative carved wall hangings liven up the décor. The rooms are largely designed for two people, though you can request an extra bed for a child.

FACILITIES | There are 3 pool areas on offer here, including one for kids. There’s also a gym, a spa, a children’s club, and an all-day restaurant.

Our favourite feature, however, is the swim-up bar, where we probably spent a little too much time relaxing with a cocktail!

#10 Cross Paasha Bali Seminyak – Best Rooftop Pool.

Set a short walk back from the beach, Cross Paasha is in one of the buzziest parts of Seminyak. The central location means its rooftop pool offers some of the best bird’s-eye views of the whole area.

LOCATION | The Cross Paasha is situated on one of Seminyak’s main roads, Jalan Kayu Aya. This is an excellent eating territory, with an international smorgasbord of cuisines on the doorstep. At the same time, the beach is only 10 minutes away.

ROOMS | Stone walls and seagrass mats lend a natural feel to the rooms, which place the focus on comfort and calm.

FACILITIES | As with most 5 star hotels in Seminyak Bali, the Cross Paasha has a spa, a gym, and an all-day restaurant.

Our favourite space to hang out, though, is the rooftop pool and bar, which has lovely panoramic views of Seminyak.

#11 Chill Hotel Seminyak – One Of The Funkiest Designed Five Star Hotels In Seminyak.

Channelling Swinging Sixties vibes, the Chill Hotel has just a handful of rooms, making each stay feel unique and personalized.

LOCATION | The property is a very short walk from Seminyak Beach, not far from the trendy Ku De Ta restaurant and beach club.

ROOMS | Bright colours and funky patterns are the defining features of the Chill Hotel rooms, which are completely different from the normal 5 star fare. There are just 14 studios on offer, each one containing its own private balcony.

FACILITIES | The 82-foot (25-metre) lap pool is a relaxed place to hang out when you want a break from the beach.

Rather than the typical buffet breakfast, this hotel offers a la carte options that encompass both continental and Asian cuisine.

What is the nicest part of Seminyak?

The area around Petitenget Beach is a nice place to stay if you want sandy coast combined with access to loads of good restaurants and fun bars. For budding surfers, the area around Double Six is a good place to go to ride the waves.

How many days are enough for Seminyak?

We’d probably say that 3 or 4 days is enough time to get a feel for the vibe at Seminyak. After that, you might want to stay on for a bit longer and continue to relax by the buzzy beaches, or you might want to journey onward to the inland rainforests or quieter parts of the Balinese coastline.

Is it safe to walk in Seminyak?

Seminyak is overall very pedestrian friendly, although we do find the motorcycles zooming down the streets can be a bit of a hazard when you’re crossing the road. As with anywhere in the world, we would exercise caution when walking around alone late at night, but Bali isn’t somewhere you need to be looking over your shoulder all the time.
