Best Luxury Beach Resorts In Bali: Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua is famous for containing some of the best Bali luxury resorts, featuring spacious suites and villas that provide tons of space for you to spread out and relax. With white sand beaches and water sports galore, the area has something for all kinds of upmarket island travellers.

#1 The St. Regis Bali Resort – Decadent 5 Star Resort In Bali Indonesia.

Whether you’re looking for well-decorated suites or private pool resorts in Bali, the St. Regis has it all, showcasing the finest 5-star service that money can buy. We absolutely adore the suites with private pools, which are huge at this hotel!

LOCATION | Around 20 minutes from the airport, this glam property is right on the Nusa Dua beachfront, offering plentiful white sand where you can stretch out and tan. The Bali National Golf Club is also very close by.

FACILITIES | There are six different F&B experiences to explore, including fine-dining Kayuputi, the suave St. Regis Bar, and Dulang, a Balinese restaurant with traditional Indonesian décor.

Beyond the edible entertainment, there are also three different pool areas, a soothing spa area, a gym, and a children’s learning centre. Our favourite activity, though, is the daily yoga sessions, which take place beside the sea.

ROOMS | The St. Regis has a range of large suites, all opulently decorated with nods to Indonesian arts and crafts. For something truly special, we recommend splashing out on one of the villas, which come with their own private pools.

#2 Samabe Bali Villas – An All-Inclusive Escape.

Samabe is one of the best villa resorts in Bali for anybody seeking a generous all-inclusive package. We visited Samabe last summer and loved the quality of food included in the package, especially the evening cocktails

LOCATION | A 15-minute drive to the south of Nusa Dua, this property boasts its own slim sliver of private beach. The airport is about half an hour away.

FACILITIES | There’s a lot to keep you busy at the Samabe Bali Villas, which is one of the few all-inclusive luxury beach resorts Bali has to offer.

If you’re like us and enjoy mixing in plenty of activities in between sunbathing, there are loads on offer, from water-based thrills like kayaking, windsurfing, and snorkelling to yoga, dancing, and cooking classes.

The property also boasts an infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, a small spa, a 24-hour gym, and a handful of different restaurants serving both Western and Asian cuisine.

ROOMS | Most of the 42 suites and villas here boast views of the ocean.

One of the best luxury family resorts Bali has to offer, Samabe’s largest options can fit up to five people – an ideal option for parents with two or three kids.

#3 Amarterra Villas Resort Bali Nusa Dua – Pool Villas With Ample Outdoor Space.

Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, Amarterra Villas offer delightful, secluded lodgings, each with its own private pool.

LOCATION | The villas are just three minutes walk from the beach as well as the Bali Collection shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. A car from the airport takes about 20 minutes to reach the property.

FACILITIES | Amarterra has a full suite of services, including an outdoor pool, a spa, a fitness centre, and an all-day Asian fusion restaurant.

The hotel can also arrange bicycle rental, dry cleaning, and kid-friendly activities.

ROOMS | One of the best resorts in Bali with private pool facilities, Amarterra has 42 individual residences, each one with its own swimming area. Even the smallest options are more than 2,000 square feet, while the largest consists of three separate bedrooms.

Every villa is laid out with a clean design that’s lightly touched up with Indonesian accents.

#4 The Royal Santrian – Best For Couples.

The Royal Santrian only offers villas designed for two, setting the mood for romance with private pools and intimate dining experiences.

LOCATION | To the northern end of Nusa Dua, the Royal Santrian is right on the oceanfront, with several water sports suppliers within walking distance. The airport is about 20 minutes away by car.

FACILITIES | All-day pan-Asian restaurant Allspice combines delicious dishes with ocean views, but we’d also recommend the romantic dinner experience on the beach.

On the grounds, you’ll also find a decent swimming pool and a spa.

If you tire of the immediate area, the hotel has free scheduled shuttles to the main Nusa Dua area as well as Tanjung Benoa, which is particularly famous for its water sports facilities.

ROOMS | Like many of the best luxury Bali resorts, the Royal Santrian doesn’t skimp on space. Spread over 3,229 square feet, each villa comes with a private pool, a gazebo with a large daybed, and a bathroom that’s built for two.

Best Luxury Resorts Bali: Seminyak

Located a wonderfully short drive from the airport, Seminyak has a bit more of a party atmosphere compared to Nusa Dua while still boasting some lovely sandy stretches and some of the trendiest 5 star beach resorts in Bali.

#5 W Bali – Seminyak – One Of The Best 5 Star Resorts In Bali For Party People.

The younger-leaning W Bali fits in perfectly with the Seminyak party vibe. We love their 24-hour pool, nightly DJ sets, and a boozy Sunday brunch!

LOCATION | The hotel is situated right on the beach, a short stroll from several beach clubs and about 15 minutes walk from numerous trendy bars and restaurants in Seminyak town.

FACILITIES | The W Bali is home to one of the best Sunday brunches on the island, but even if your stay doesn’t coincide with this gourmet indulgence, you can still enjoy plenty of delicious dishes at Grill restaurant Fire or seafood specialist Starfish Bloo.

What makes the W stand out from the other best 5 star resorts in Bali is that it consciously attempts to create a buzzing social atmosphere, particularly through the seaside Woobar, which gets the DJs in at night to turn up the noise.

For more sedate activities, there’s also a spa and 24-hour swimming areas, or you can get your pump on at the gym.

ROOMS | Accommodation is playfully modern, with the standard rooms offering views of the garden or the sea. For a bit more privacy, there are also one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom villas with their own pools.

#6 The Legian Seminyak – A Well-Designed Treat.

Leaning towards the traditional side of luxury hotels in Bali Indonesia, the Legian is a well-located resort that liberally utilizes natural materials in its design to harmonise the property with its surroundings.

LOCATION | The Legian is in the heart of the Seminyak action, with the beach right in front on one side and loads of fantastic restaurants and bars within walking distance on the other side.

FACILITIES | The all-day restaurant covers its bases with a broad selection of international cuisines served in a casual but nicely appointed dining room that looks out onto the sea. For something a little more intimate, there’s a private beach pavilion where couples can canoodle over refined plates.

There’s an on-site nutritionist to help optimise your diet, as well as a gym, a spa, and daily activities such as yoga, meditation, and beach jogging.

ROOMS | Parquet floors, furnishings made from natural fibres, and a smattering of indigenous artworks decorate the rooms, which range from balconied one-bedroom suites to the beach house, which can fit up to six adults and has its own 16-metre swimming pool that looks out onto the ocean spray.

#7 The Oberoi Beach Resort – Upmarket Island Style.

Kissing the sandy Seminyak Beach, the Oberoi is one of the most picture-perfect luxury resorts in Bali, the décor creating a sophisticated island vibe.

LOCATION | In addition to the bounty of restaurants and bars that fill central Seminyak, there are lots of shopping opportunities nearby, ranging from well-stocked malls and touristy flea markets to boutique stores.

FACILITIES | During the day, the Frangipani Café is a great place to grab some simple fare beside the sea, while at night, the Kura Kura restaurant serves up a mix of Indonesian and European dishes beneath a thatched, open-air space.

The Oberoi also has a delightful little spa, a decent gym, and a good-sized pool with plenty of loungers.

ROOMS | Pretty teakwood furnishings and local crafts decorate the accommodation, which ranges from relatively modest 592-square-foot rooms with private terraces to spacious multi-room villas with private pools.

#8 The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa – An Ideal Beachfront Location.

Everything you could want is at your fingertips at the Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa, which is one of the best-located luxury resorts in Bali. We love this location in Seminyak!

LOCATION | Living up to its name, the Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa has lots of beachfront to explore. Plus, there’s a whole bunch of places to eat, drink, and shop just steps from the hotel, including the long-standing Ku De Ta restaurant-bar-beach club, which is something of a Seminyak institution.

FACILITIES | There’s a lot to enjoy at the Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa, including a couple of different restaurants, a gym, and a spa with seven treatment rooms, a sauna, and hot and cold plunge pools.

Our favourite space to hang out, though, is the infinity pool, where you can enjoy a delicious array of cocktails while gazing into the sunset.

ROOMS | Rather than embracing an island vibe, the rooms here feel a bit more self-consciously formal, with dark-wood furnishings and simple décor enlivened with a few pieces of sculpted wood frieze.

Some lodgings come with a Jacuzzi, while others have private pools.

Best Luxury Resorts In Bali: Ubud

Luxury getaways in Ubud are less about beach time and more about exploring the island’s insanely beautiful interior, from jungle hikes to waterfall swims. Many of the 5 star Bali resorts here are nestled amidst treetops, making you feel like a modern-day Tarzan – well, a Tarzan with access to plumbing and electricity, at any rate!

#9 Capella Ubud – A Treetop Paradise.

One of the best luxury resorts in Bali for nature lovers, the Capella Ubud consists of 23 luxury treehouses that sit in the branches of the Balinese jungle. We think this is the most romantic luxury pick in Ubud!

LOCATION | The Capella Ubud takes a bit longer to reach than many other luxury resorts in Bali – just under two hours by car – but we think it’s worth the trek for the stunning natural scenery that surrounds the hotel. The famous Tegalalang Rice Terraces and Manuaba Waterfall are just a couple of the wonders within driving distance.

FACILITIES | Everything you could possibly want is available on-site, including a spa, a communal pool, a gym, and two restaurants.

In the morning, you can enjoy a complimentary breakfast, while in the evening, the resort hosts a campfire experience with marshmallows and movies. There are also free bikes you can take to explore the surrounding area.

ROOMS | One of the finest luxury resorts in Bali with private pool facilities, the Capella Ubud has five different styles of room available, each distinctively decorated with Balinese artefacts and containing its own plunge pool.

#10 The Kayon Jungle Resort – Best Luxury Hotel In Bali For Rest And Relaxation.

Nestled amidst Bali’s most verdant landscape, the Kayon Jungle Resort is a tranquil oasis where you can let the cares of the world flow away while floating in some of the most scenically situated pools on the island.

LOCATION | Ubud is less than half an hour away by car, while the Tegalalang Rice Terraces are easily reachable.

FACILITIES | We’ve seen a lot of nice swimming facilities in Bali, but the Kayon takes the cake with its absolutely stunning trio of tiered pools, which emulate the surrounding rice terraces. Sure, you can’t do laps in these curvaceous beauties, but we don’t come to Ubud to swim laps!

That’s not all the hotel has to offer, however. There’s also an on-site restaurant, a gym, an art gallery, a boutique where you can buy some pretty souvenirs, a spa, and a yoga studio that opens out onto unbelievable jungle views.

ROOMS | Employing a rustic aesthetic that’s executed to the highest degree of quality, the lodgings at the Kayon range from nicely sized suites with excellent panoramic terraces to sprawling villas with private pools and outdoor dining areas.

#11 Viceroy Bali – Top-Tier Amenities And Service.

The luxurious spa, the fine-dining restaurant, the jaw-dropping views – the Viceroy Bali doesn’t put a foot wrong with its immaculately delivered resort experience.

LOCATION | A little closer to Ubud than the other options we’ve included in this section, the Viceroy is just a five-minute drive from the main drag of town without sacrificing the natural splendour of the jungle hills.

FACILITIES | While many luxury resorts in Bali have excellent restaurants, few offer the fine-dining, white-tablecloth affair of the Viceroy’s Apéritif Restaurant and Bar, which harks back to colonial decadence. For something more chilled, there’s also the all-day CasCades, which overlooks the jungle valley.

As for wellness, there’s a spa, a well-equipped gym, a swimming pool, and a squash court, which we were impressed to discover can be used free of charge. The hotel can also arrange for several paid activities, including private yoga lessons, cooking classes, and sunrise treks.

ROOMS | The suites are characterised by bright-white décor, which creates a comfortable, clean haven. It’s the villas, however, that stand out thanks to their private plunge pools and attractive Balinese design features.

#12 Kamandalu Ubud – One Of The Best Luxury Resorts Bali For Families.

Staying in one of the Kamandalu Ubud’s standalone villas feels to us like occupying a local village – albeit one with 5-star facilities on site!

LOCATION | Ubud town is a 10-minute drive or a 40-minute walk – though you could also take advantage of the resort’s bicycles and split the difference. The airport is about an hour away.

FACILITIES | A complimentary, scheduled shuttle runs between the resort and Ubud town throughout the day, making it easy to explore such sights as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and Ubud Palace.

You could be forgiven, however, for just wanting to spend all your time at the hotel, which features two pools, a spa, an all-day restaurant, and a boutique with stylish souvenirs. Speak to staff about arranging a picnic amidst the property’s rice terraces for a unique dining experience.

ROOMS | Choose from chalets with sunken bathtubs and villas with their own private pools. The largest lodging can accommodate six people and comes with lots of spacious communal areas, making it ideal for families.

Best Luxury Resorts Bali: Uluwatu

Right on the southwestern tip of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, Uluwatu is a popular destination for lazy beach bums and experienced surfer dudes/chicks alike, thanks to its combo of sandy beaches and gnarly waves. The area is also home to the famous Uluwatu Temple, which hovers precariously on a cliff above the crashing ocean.

#13 Jumeirah Bali – Aesthetic Excellence.

One of the overall best 5 star resorts Bali has to offer in the Uluwatu region, the Jumeirah is an ode to luxury and comfort.

LOCATION | Dreamland Beach can be accessed from the resort, and there’s also a golf course just a short drive away. The airport is less than an hour’s drive.

FACILITIES | The fabulous spa is arguably the standout at the Jumeirah, though the cliffside restaurant and bar is undeniably a lovely space to while away the evening as the sun sets.

The resort also features a pool, a fitness centre, a kids’ club, and indigenous experiences, such as undergoing a water purification ritual.

ROOMS | The villas here are beautifully appointed with a mixture of modern conveniences and traditional furnishings. Each one comes with its own private plunge pool.

While you might want to save this once-in-a-lifetime stay for a couples’ retreat, the Jumeirah is also one of the best 5 star family resorts in Bali, offering the option to connect two villas through a shared terrace.

#14 Six Senses Uluwatu – A Sensual Spa Escape.

Thrillingly perched atop an Uluwatu cliff, the Six Senses lives up to its international reputation by landing a place on the list of best luxury spa resorts in Bali.

LOCATION | Padang Padang Beach is a short drive away for surfers, while beach lovers can be at Dreamland Beach in under 20 minutes.

FACILITIES | Say hello to three scenic outdoor pools, pooch-friendly perks, and multiple restaurants, including a chic steakhouse and a clifftop bar with casual eats like pizza and pasta.

Our favourite aspect of the Six Senses, however, is the spa, which offers decadent massages, a meditation pavilion, an indoor fitness centre, and a nail salon, among other soothing services.

ROOMS | Relax in a sky suite with your own outdoor bathtub, or splurge for a space with a private plunge pool overlooking the Indian Ocean. The largest rooms can accommodate four people comfortably.

#15 Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa – Fun For All The Family.

Among the best luxury resorts in Bali for families, the Renaissance has several facilities that will keep the kids busy while Mum and Dad enjoy some alone time.

LOCATION | Although the Renaissance isn’t located on the beach, it’s address in the middle of the Bukit Peninsula means guests can reach either the surfing waves of Padang Padang on the west coast or the east coast’s white sand beaches within a 15- to 20-minute drive.

FACILITIES | There’s a lot to keep both adults and kids busy on site, including a spa and sauna for grownups, a play area with a combo of video games and fun classes for little ones, and several different pool areas that everyone can enjoy together.

As for eating and drinking, the Renaissance has four different restaurant and bar concepts on-site, as well as a linked beach club on Pandawa Beach that can be reached using the free hotel shuttle.

ROOMS | All rooms come with either a balcony or a terrace. The lodgings are very reasonably priced, so it might be an idea to arrange for a separate room for older children. Alternatively, stay in the loft suite, which can accommodate four at a push.

#16 The Asa Maia – Adults Only Resort – One Of The Best Spa Resorts In Bali.

Sometimes, it’s nice to get away from the little ones. The adults-only resorts of Asa Maia provide an idyllic sanctuary for grown-ups to replenish their spirits in a tranquil setting, boasting amenities meticulously crafted to foster a truly blissful self-care escape.

LOCATION | There are lots of beaches within a short drive of the property, while the airport is under an hour away.

FACILITIES | Contrast therapy pools, an infrared sauna, a 24-hour gym, and a nature-enclosed swimming area are among the amenities at the Asa Maia, which also offers breathwork sessions, yoga classes, hypnotherapy, and Pilates among its many wellness workshops.

The health theme continues in the F&B outlets, where cold-pressed juices, superfoods like spirulina and turmeric, and veggie meals made from organic, local ingredients are on the menu.

ROOMS | There aren’t many luxury resorts in Bali that exude as much soothing calm as the Asa Maia, which is decorated with bespoke furniture predominantly made from natural materials.

Most Unique Luxury Resorts In Bali

If the location doesn’t matter to you as much as an utterly unique experience, we’ve put together a quintet of fantastic luxury resorts that stand out from the pack, providing once-in-a-lifetime stays that you’ll remember forever.

#17 The Ungasan Clifftop Resort – An Activity-Packed Escape.

In the running for the most luxurious hotel in Bali, the Ungasan Clifftop Resort is perched right on the edge of the Indian Ocean and is equipped to offer guests non-stop activities for the duration of their stay.

LOCATION | On the southernmost coast of Bali, this 5-star hotel is a short drive from Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, which boasts the tallest statue in Indonesia. The airport, meanwhile, is about an hour’s drive.

FACILITIES | A private beach area, grass and hard tennis courts, barbecue services, water sports, and a putting green are just some of the unique services on offer at the Ungasan Clifftop Resort, which also supplies the usual conveniences, such as a spa, a gym, and all-day dining.

Our favourite thing of all is the infinity pool, which takes full advantage of the clifftop location to offer stunning views of the sea.

ROOMS | There are numerous spacious suites and villas to choose from at the Ungasan, many with their own private pools.

#18 Elevate Bali by Hanging Gardens Munduk – The Road Less Travelled.

If you’re looking for a part of Bali that remains magnificently untouched, Elevate Bali by Hanging Gardens is a secluded place to escape from the world.

LOCATION | This resort is situated in the verdant Munduk area in the northern highlands of Bali, in the vicinity of rice terraces, waterfalls, and serene lakes.

FACILITIES | Aside from the restaurant, bar, and coffee shop, Elevate Bali can also arrange several more bespoke meals, including a firepit BBQ, a picnic by the nearby lake, or a romantic meal for two.

There’s also an excellent spa on site, as well as a splendid outdoor swimming area.

ROOMS | All of the resort’s 26 villas have a sophisticated décor that combines the contemporary with the traditional, but our favourite is the Grand Pool View Villa, which comes with its own infinity pool and hot tub that looks out on the jungle below.

#19 Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay – Exclusive All-Villa Accommodation.

Lapped by the waters of the Indian Ocean, the Four Seasons is an all-villa property with a fantastic array of 5-star facilities.

LOCATION | Just 15 minutes from the airport, the Four Seasons is right on the beachfront, a short walk from the numerous excellent seafood restaurants that line Jimbaran Bay’s shores.

FACILITIES | We’ve seen few spas that can compete with the one at this Four Seasons, which contains not just top-tier treatment rooms and soothing relaxation areas but also a room that utilizes sound and light to evoke a feeling of complete bliss.

There’s also a kids’ club, a cooking academy, and a gym on-site, as well as numerous experiences that can be arranged, from surf sessions to painting classes.

ROOMS | Villas here incorporate traditional Balinese architecture into their design, with stone-walled courtyards containing private pools, thatched roofs topping the room pavilions, and sun terraces with views so beautiful they might just bring a tear to your eye!

#20 Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape – Commune With Nature.

Adults-only Buahan stands out from the pack with its ‘naked’ approach to its resort design, which features no doors and no walls so that there’s nothing between you and the glorious jungle.

LOCATION | A remote retreat situated in inland Bali, the Buahan is 90 minutes to two hours from the airport. Ubud is about 40 minutes away by car, but you’ll find plenty of natural wonders a lot closer to home.

FACILITIES | We love all the incredible cultural experiences on offer, from a course on Balinese medicine to wild foraging sessions. You can also take yourself off on your own hike or bicycle ride using the hotel’s DIY maps.

On site, you’ll find an infinity pool with plenty of loungers, a spa that incorporates indigenous ingredients and philosophy into its treatments, a zero-waste kitchen that cooks up creative eats with local flavours, and a bar serving cocktails that utilise freshly picked herbs and botanicals.

ROOMS | There are three levels of ‘bale’ on offer that are differentiated by the quality of their views. No matter which one you choose, however, you’ll be treated to a private plunge pool, a spacious sundeck, and beds that are surrounded not by walls but the jungle itself.

#21 Wapa di Ume Sidemen – Mountain Village Life.

The stylish Wapa di Ume resort has been designed to match the aesthetic of the local village, so you can feel like you’re living amidst natural beauty and cultural tradition.

LOCATION | Unlike every other hotel on this list, Wapa di Ume is towards the eastern side of Bali, in an area that has been dubbed by some as the “new Ubud.” It takes at least 90 minutes from the airport to get here, but it’s worth it for the plethora of waterfalls, rice terraces and other natural attractions.

FACILITIES | The two-tier swimming pool is a beautiful place to relax, but you can also stay fit at the gym, treat yourself at the spa, or take a class at the specially designed yoga pavilion. Plus, there’s an open-air restaurant and bar serving up refreshments throughout the day.

In our opinion, however, the best thing you can do is hop on one of the free bikes and explore the untouched nature that surrounds the resort.

ROOMS | The crisply decorated rooms come in several different sizes, including a balconied terrace of 624 square feet and a 1,270-square-foot villa with a private pool.

Most Luxurious Resorts In Bali: Canggu

Canggu is on the sunset side of the island, which is why many people flock to this area to enjoy evening walks on the beach. Compared to Seminyak, the vibe is perhaps a little more chill and a little less buzzy, but it still attracts a very cool crowd.

#22 La Reserve 1785 Canggu Beach – French-Flavoured Historic Hotel.

La Reserve 1785 gets its name from the fact that it was built more than two centuries ago, but what makes it unique today is the combination of Balinese design with French flair.

LOCATION | The name of this resort is rather deceptive, as Canggu Beach is actually about half an hour’s walk away. Fortunately, La Reserve 1785 does offer a buggy that will drop you at the shore.

FACILITIES | Speaking of the shore, the hotel has a linked beach club where you can relax when you do decide to head for the sea.

On the grounds, meanwhile, there’s a good-sized pool, a restaurant that focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, a complimentary daily breakfast, and a spa.

ROOMS | A modern entertainment system and contemporary hand-crafted furniture are set against Parisian posters and ornate mirrors that recall France’s Belle Epoque.

The balconied rooms are spacious and chic, but for something ‘formidable’, as the French say, we recommend the Pavilion Pool Suite, a little world of its own, complete with a private plunge pool.

#23 COMO Uma Canggu – Contemporary Cool.

One of the more modern, minimalist luxury Bali resorts on the beach, COMO Uma has an excellent location just steps from the shore.

LOCATION | The airport is about 45 minutes away, and there are plenty of beaches nearby where you can surf, swim, and sunbathe. Within walking distance, you’ll also find a selection of nice restaurants and cafes where you can chillax, plus there’s a complimentary scheduled shuttle that takes guests about the local region.

FACILITIES | Our favourite place at the COMO Uma is its beach club, which offers a prime spot to catch the fading rays of the sun, drink in hand. This same venue has a kitchen on hand where you can grab snacky bites like sliders and crispy fish tacos during the day, while in the evening, they serve a more substantial menu, including pizzas, pasta, and curries.

The property boasts a couple of large pools, a sizable fitness centre, treatment rooms, and a daily itinerary of activities.

ROOMS | The bright white rooms ooze contemporary comfort, regardless of whether you go for the relatively inexpensive, compact 387-square-foot basic rooms or the 1,067-square-foot residences, which feature decks that open out directly onto the lagoon pool.

Best Luxury Resorts In Bali: FAQs

What is the most luxurious area to stay in Bali?

Oceanfront Nusa Dua is a very bougie part of Bali, as it’s filled with 5-star resorts, but it’s also a victim of its own popularity and can be quite busy. We usually choose Ubud for our weekend trips, which has some very secluded luxury escapes that are surrounded by pristine jungle.

Where do celebrities stay in Bali?

The St. Regis in Nusa Dua is a perennial fave with celebs, including the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland. Others prefer the more tranquil surround of the Buahan, while the more party-minded peeps go to Seminyak hotspots like the W.

Is Bali high-end?

Honestly, it depends on where you go. Some parts of Bali are still incredibly exclusive, especially some of the highland villa complexes or resorts with private beaches. On the other hand, you can also find chill spots that have more of a beach bum/surfer vibe that’s on the casual rather than the high-end side.

Which month is best to visit Bali?

The dry season runs from April to October, so we would definitely suggest visiting within those months. From our experience of living on the island, rainy season months are not too bad either, with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. However, if you want to avoid the bigger crowds (and also the higher prices that come with them), don’t plan a trip for the height of the summer holidays.

Is Bali expensive?

If you want to stay at the Six Senses or the Oberoi, then yes, Bali is very expensive! But it doesn’t have to be. You can find lots of very nice hotels for a reasonable price, and similarly, there are plenty of casual restaurants serving excellent food that don’t have to cost you a kidney.

Is Bali safe?

Yes, Bali is very safe. It’s incredibly rare for any serious crime to take place, and even petty crime is uncommon compared to other popular tourist destinations. We live here and never had any issues with safety. The most dangerous part of visiting Bali actually comes from inexperienced tourists riding motorbikes or a Bali belly, which is a version of traveller’s food poisoning.
