Want to do lots of snorkelling during your stay? Choose a hotel on the north coast. Although the waves can be a little rougher here than elsewhere on the island, the north coast offers some fabulous snorkelling locations. 

If you want to stay in a high-end hotel surrounded by other luxury properties, look for accommodation along the west coast. 

How many days are enough for Gili Trawangan?

If you want to ‘see’ the island, you can visit it just for one day. But if you want to get away from it all, relax and reconnect with nature (and each other), we recommend staying for several days or a week. 

Is it worth staying in Gili Islands?

100% yes! These islands are the definition of a tropical paradise. You can find secluded, white sand beaches, swim in warm, clear seas, relax under a palm tree or snorkel amongst sea turtles and tropical fish. What’s not to love?

Is Gili Trawangan a party island?

Gili T does have a reputation as a party island, but only when compared to the other two Gili islands. It is not a party destination in the same sense as Seminyak or Kuta on Bali. 

You will find late-night bars and beach clubs in Gili T, but not in the same number as in tourist hotspots in Bali. 

If you don’t want to party and want to stay in a quieter location, simply choose hotels in Gili Trawangan on the north or west coast. 

Is Gili Islands expensive?

Any island anywhere in the world is going to be more expensive than a mainland destination simply due to its geographical and logistic location. 

However, we think that although Gili Trawangan accommodation is more expensive than some Bali locations, it is still exceptional value for money when compared to some global or European beach vacation hotspots.
