15 Best Villas In Amed Bali

Searching for the best villas in Amed for your upcoming trip?

We have selected 15 of our favourite Amed villas to share with you. All the villas offer private, spacious accommodation with either private pool facilities or a shared pool. We have included family-owned villas and villas which are part of a small resort (Amed does not have large sprawling resorts like other parts of Bali).

Amed is a beautiful, unspoilt region of Bali. We recommend it as the place to stay to experience an authentic Bali and a laid-back, unhurried vibe. If you want to enjoy a peaceful vacation surrounded by nature and the ocean, book a villa in Amed.

Amed is ideal for people who love the great outdoors. Visitors can hike to the summit of nearby Mount Agung (Bali’s highest peak) or enjoy world-class snorkelling and diving in Amed’s clear waters and coral reefs.

Cultural activities include a ride on a traditional jukung boat or visiting the water temple, Tirta Gangga. You can also enjoy a quick trip to Lombok and the Gili Islands, which are only 45 minutes on a fast boat from Amed.

Amed has something for everyone – except nightclubs and party bars – but we think that is part of its charm!

      Villas In Amed: FAQs

How many days do you need in Amed Bali?

Two days in Amed should be enough to soak in its tranquil atmosphere and explore its famed diving spots. This gives you enough time to take a couple of dives or snorkelling trips, explore the surrounding areas like the Tirta Gangga Water Palace, and enjoy the black-sand beaches.

However, it’s worth noting that Amed serves as a convenient gateway to the Gili Islands. If you’re planning to make that trip, we’d recommend allocating an additional three days to fully experience the Gilis’ unique charm and vibrant marine life. This way, you get the best of both worlds- Amed’s peaceful vibes and the Gilis’ tropical allure.

What towns are near Amed Bali?

Close by, you’ll find Tulamben, known for its world-famous USS Liberty shipwreck dive site. Candidasa is another neighbouring town that offers a more laid-back atmosphere compared to the bustling southern beaches. Tirta Gangga, with its royal water garden, is also within easy reach and makes for a delightful day trip. Then there’s Sidemen, a hidden gem perfect for those who love trekking amidst verdant rice terraces.

      Is Amed Bali worth visiting?

Oh, absolutely, Amed is a gem that’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re into diving or snorkelling. This quiet, laid-back fishing village on Bali’s northeastern coast serves as a gateway to some of the most breathtaking underwater experiences. Think vibrant coral gardens and fascinating shipwrecks, including the famous USS Liberty in nearby Tulamben.

But even if you’re not a diver, Amed offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s more tourist-heavy spots. The black-sand beaches are beautiful in their own unique way, and the backdrop of Mount Agung adds a dramatic touch to the already scenic landscape. Plus, Amed is the perfect launching point for trips to the nearby Gili Islands, which we think deserve another three days on your itinerary.

      Why do people visit Amed?

People flock to Amed for a variety of enticing reasons. First and foremost, it’s a diver’s paradise. The underwater world here is incredibly rich, featuring stunning coral reefs and unique shipwrecks, like the USS Liberty in nearby Tulamben. It’s like a treasure trove for underwater photographers and marine life enthusiasts.

But it’s not just about what’s beneath the surface. Amed is also a haven for those looking to escape Bali’s more crowded, touristy areas. Its tranquil, black-sand beaches are the perfect place to unwind, read a book, or take in a spectacular sunrise with Mount Agung as a backdrop.

For the adventurous souls, there’s freediving, fishing, and trekking opportunities. With its close proximity to other must-visit locations like the Gili Islands and Lombok, Amed serves as a convenient base for broader explorations.

What makes Amed different from other places in Bali?

Amed is truly a world apart from its bustling southern counterparts like Kuta or Seminyak. The pace of life here is noticeably slower, offering you a chance to unplug and tune in with nature. Picture black-sand beaches, quiet fishing villages, and a certain serenity that you can’t find in more tourist-centric areas.

What sets Amed apart is its spectacular marine life. It’s a scuba diving and snorkelling paradise with several unique underwater sites, including coral gardens and even a shipwreck.

Not to forget, the landscape here is more arid and rugged, flanked by towering volcanoes like Mount Agung, which makes for spectacular sunrises. When we were there, we literally felt like we were in a different realm- far removed from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s more popular destinations.

Can you swim in Amed Beach?

Absolutely, you can swim at Amed Beach! However, don’t expect the typical powdery white sands you might find in other parts of Bali. Amed’s beaches are predominantly pebbly and volcanic, with darker sands that offer a dramatic contrast to the crystal-clear waters. The beach slopes gently into the ocean, making it suitable for a nice swim.

We’ve found that the waters here are calmer compared to the strong currents you might encounter in southern Bali, making it a lovely spot for casual swimming. Plus, the waters are so clear that even a simple swim turns into a snorkelling experience; you don’t have to go far to spot vibrant marine life.

Another perk? Amed’s beaches are generally less crowded, so you won’t feel like you’re in a swimming race with a hundred other tourists. It’s one of those places where you can have a more peaceful, personal experience with the Balinese sea.

      Villas In Amed: Final Word

Villas in Amed offer a comfortable and peaceful home away from home experience in Bali.

You will soon discover that Amed villas are also more affordable than villas in other parts of Bali. This means that your dream of a private Bali villa with a pool, either near a beach or immersed in nature, is attainable in Amed.

We hope the recommendations of our favourite villas in Amed have helped you book the perfect villa for your trip to this special part of the island.
