The fantastic natural scenery that enshrouds the Damai resort makes it feel like a secret tropical hideaway. While the setting does mean being a little further away from the coast, in our view, it’s totally worth it.

LOCATION | Set amidst the hills of northern Bali, this resort is about five minutes drive away from the beach, with views of Java volcanoes and lush jungle.

FACILITIES | Aside from the location, the Damai’s best feature is arguably its infinity pool, which looks out onto the verdant countryside. There’s also a soothing spa facility and a restaurant that employs seafood bought from fishermen, herbs from the hotel’s market garden, and other ingredients sourced from the local village.

Rounding out the experience, the Damai offers complimentary services such as free private parking and daily breakfast.

ROOMS | While not all the villas here have their own private pools in addition to the communal one, most do, each one a secluded oasis in harmony with its surroundings. Everything has been elegantly outfitted with hand-crafted antiques, Balinese artwork, and organic toiletries.

#2 Villa Ataya – A Spacious Pool-Equipped Villa In Lovina Bali.

The standout feature of the standalone Villa Ataya is its pool, which is a serene, leafy space with a wooden deck.

LOCATION | The beach is around 15 minutes walk from the villa, but you’ll find several characterful local restaurants and stores even closer to home.

FACILITIES | We’ve already mentioned the beauty of the pool, which is attached to an outdoor veranda with ample seating, making it the heart of the villa and a perfect space for socialising. Free private parking is available on-site.

ROOMS | Exuding laidback vibes, the wood-dominated décor of the Villa Ataya features wicker chairs, modern fixtures, and wall prints that evoke Bali’s natural and cultural splendour.

The villa includes two bedrooms with double beds, two bathrooms, a living room area with a flat-screen TV, and a kitchen equipped with a stove, an oven, a fridge, and a dishwasher.

#3 Villa Twin Lovina – Homely Charm In A Neighbourhood Spot.

There’s something to be said for villas in Lovina that are independently run by residents, who just seem to add that extra personal touch to their properties. The Villa Twin is one such place, making up for what it lacks in polish with homely charm.

LOCATION | Hidden down a quiet country lane, this house is about 10 minutes from Lovina Beach, as well as 30 minutes from Ganesha Beach if you fancy a bit of variety in your volcanic sand.

FACILITIES | The private pool is a decent size and is accompanied by a small garden with loungers. Our favourite touch, however, is that every morning, the chummy local landlady comes to cook a local breakfast – it’s honestly one of the nicest ways to start the day!

ROOMS | The open-plan kitchen-dining room is located just off the pool and garden area so that you can take full advantage of sunny days. Each of the two bedrooms comes with a big double bed, and there are two separate bathrooms with showers, so you never have to wait to hose off.

#4 Lata Lama – Personality-Filled Villas In Lovina.

Lata Lama has just three villas on its property, but each one has been lovingly decorated to create a tradition-inspired experience that’s full of teakwood furniture and colourful tilework. Eschewing modern minimalism, this is a house that bubbles with personality.

LOCATION | Situated beside a tranquil rice field, this property appears secluded but is actually just five minutes from the sea. Walk a little way, and you’ll find a relatively bustling neighbourhood – relative to Lovina, that is! – with various restaurants.

FACILITIES | Breakfast is included with the room rate, and there’s also free private parking available on-site. If you don’t intend to hire a car, you can arrange for a paid airport shuttle with the front desk.

ROOMS | The trio of traditional Javanese wooden houses each has its own private entrance, as well as its own private pool. For couples, we adore the cosy Halimah’s House, which opens out onto the garden and pool, with a kitchenette on one side and a bathroom on the other.

For something more substantial, Joglo Lata Lama offers a large kitchen and living areas, with two en suite bedrooms and a further, smaller bedroom in a separate joglo.

#5 Villa Serenity – A Harmonious Haven.

The Villa Serenity lives up to its name by providing a peaceful base from which you can drive out to explore the surrounding coast and countryside.

LOCATION | It’s a bit of a long walk to the beach, though only a short drive. Singsing Waterfall is reachable in about 10 to 15 minutes by car.

FACILITIES | The plunge pool, enclosed by ferns and a small patio with loungers, is a private little place to relax. Free private parking is provided with the villa.

ROOMS | The open living room and kitchen, as well as the two bedrooms, all open out onto the pool, which forms the heart of the Villa Serenity. There are also a pair of bathrooms with walk-in showers and a bathtub.

LOCATION | The town’s principal stretch is a reasonable walking distance away, as is the main Lovina Beach and Ganesha Beach.

FACILITIES | The on-site Blue Royal Beach Restaurant serves up a mixture of Indonesian, Chinese, and European food, while the spa offers massages, facials, and a hot tub. Our favourite feature of the New Sunari, however, is the sizable pool, which supplies views out over the turquoise water of the sea.

For an additional fee, visitors can also enjoy breakfast and an airport shuttle.

ROOMS | There are some very affordable deluxe rooms available here, but we prefer the 2065-square-foot, one-bedroom pool villa, which offers a private nest where you and your partner can canoodle in your very own plunge pool, complemented by a pair of loungers and a terrace with wicker furniture.

#7 Luxury Private 2Bed Poolvilla in Lovina – Recently Renovated White-Washed Home.

This clean and comfortable residence boasts one of the nicest pools of all private villas in Lovina Bali, having only been recently renovated last year.

LOCATION | As well as being a short drive or a 20-to-30-minute walk from Lovina Beach, this house is less than 10 minutes by car to Singsing Waterfall. Just bear in mind that there isn’t much around in terms of restaurants and shops.

FACILITIES | The pool, surrounded by jungle trees, is a delightful space to chill with a beer and a good book in between refreshing forays into the water. A daily halal breakfast is included in the room rate.

ROOMS | This white-washed villa comprises two bedrooms, both of which open out onto the pool. There are also two bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a compact outdoor dining area.

#8 Kartika Villas – Well-Located Property Near The Beach.

The Kartika Villas are less than five minutes from the closest beach, though you can also just relax in your own private pool when you want a bit of alone time.

LOCATION | Aside from the proximity to the beach, there are also loads of restaurants within a 10-minute stroll, serving up some of the best Balinese cuisine you’ll find in Lovina.

FACILITIES | Free private parking and a paid airport shuttle are both on offer, as is a daily breakfast. Should you run out of clean clothes, the staff can provide a laundry service.

ROOMS | These homey bungalows are simply decorated but are equipped with a stovetop, a fridge, and tea/coffee-making appliances. Choose from either a two-bed or a one-bed option, each with access to a pool.

#9 Villa Murni – One of the Lovina Bali Villas With A Local Vibe.

The Villa Murni isn’t as light and bright as some of the other villas on our list, but it does offer supremely good value for money.

LOCATION | Another well-located bungalow, the Villa Murni is a short walk from Lovina’s main beach, as well as numerous seafront restaurants and a rather well-stocked supermarket.

FACILITIES | Like many of the standalone villas in Lovina, the Villa Murni doesn’t offer a great deal of facilities, though the local couple who run the place are eager to help arrange rentals, tours, meals, massages, and laundry. The pool, meanwhile, is overlooked by a pair of loungers, a daybed, and some rather forbidding Balinese statues.

Best Lovina Villas Bali For Families & Groups

If your priority is plenty of space for your group to chat and relax, there are lots of villas in Lovina that contain multiple rooms and ample communal areas. The places we’ve included here are spacious spots where your family and/or friends can spread out without feeling like you’re impinging on other people.

#10 Villa Umah Didua – An Eight-Person Property Near The Beach.

Few villas in Lovina can offer both the intimacy and the depth of services that the Villa Umah Didua provides. The attentive staff are really a standout at this clean, simply accoutred property.

LOCATION | The beach is around 10 minutes away. For eats, there are some tasty local spots nearby, including the charmingly rustic Jaring Kitchen & Drinks, which also offers cooking classes on request.

FACILITIES | Daily housekeeping and daily breakfast are provided for guests. The host can also book tours, arrange airport transfers and laundry services, as well as organise a lunch and dinner buffet (minimum of four people).

As you may be able to tell from the bicycle-decorated pool of the Villa Umah Didua, the property rents bicycles (as well as cars) to guests who want to explore the gorgeous surrounding nature.

ROOMS | There are four separate lodgings on offer here, though you can also rent out the whole place for yourself if you are a large family or group. In total, there are four bedrooms, two with doubles and two with a pair of singles. Each one has its own terrace with views of the pool and the surrounding rice paddies.

#11 Le Mirage Villa Santai – One of the biggest Lovina Villas.

A huge property that seems more like a resort than just a single villa, Le Mirage Villa Santai’s most unique feature is its 3,000-square-foot tropical garden, which is filled with mango trees, bougainvillaea, frangipani, and other fruits and flowers.

LOCATION | While we found this residence just a bit too far from the beach to make it really walkable, the flipside side is you’ll find yourself in a gorgeous green oasis that’s secluded from the rest of the world.

FACILITIES | The large lap pool is, in our opinion, one of the finest swimming facilities of all the villas in Lovina – you can even get scuba lessons in it if you want to get your basic certification.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all cooked at the property using fresh local ingredients, plus there’s a bar on-site to keep you supplied with beverages.

ROOMS | There are five bedrooms spread across this property, including three bedrooms with doubles, a bedroom with twin singles, and a bedroom with two doubles. That means you can fit a grand total of 12 people so while the villa price may be relatively expensive for the area, it actually ends up being a very reasonable amount given the capacity.

#12 Villa Umah Raja – A Secluded Six-Person Hideaway.

The views from the Villa Umah Raja’s infinity pool and balconies are exquisite, providing dramatic landscapes that showcase northern Bali’s natural splendour.

LOCATION | Like La Mirage Villa Santai, this property is too far from the beach to walk it, but a pretty easy ride by car or scooter. Singsing Waterfall is about 15 minutes drive, though we recommend the more impressive Aling Aling if you don’t mind a car ride of about 45 minutes each way.

FACILITIES | Breakfast is included in the room charge, and there’s a selection of wines, beers, and soft drinks stored in the kitchen minibar. If you’re feeling a little tense, book a massage treatment, which you can enjoy in the privacy of your room or in the sunshine by the pool.

ROOMS | The Villa Umah Raja consists of three bedrooms, each one with its own en suite. This is complemented by a living room, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen.

During the day, the house is filled with light, but at night, close the curtains and bathe in the tasteful mood lighting and the beautiful indigenous arts and crafts that decorate the house.

#13 Private Villa Lovina Hillside Rinisha Rumah Senja – Hikers’ Heaven.

Perched amidst rolling hills, the Rinisha Rumah Senja is in an excellent position for people who plan to spend most of their time hiking and exploring the jungle rather than lounging on the beach.

LOCATION | This hillside retreat is a 10-minute drive from Lovina Beach, although the Krisna Waterpark is an excellent option for families at just five minutes by car. Best of all, the Singsing Waterfall is right around the corner.

FACILITIES | There are many infinity pools with beautiful views in this part of Bali, but the Rinisha Rumah Senja has one of the best of all the villas in Lovina. When you’re not hanging out by the pool, you can enjoy a barbecue or a picnic in the garden.

For an additional fee, the staff will arrange for daily breakfast and an airport transfer. Parking, however, is free of charge.

ROOMS | Three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a living room, and a terrace with views of the sea make up this picturesque villa, which lets the location do the talking rather than the pared-back but pleasant décor.

#14 Villa Kelapa – Expansive Villa Lovina Bali.

The garden and pool area are the highlight of the spacious Villa Kelapa, which is situated near the most bustling part of Lovina.

LOCATION | Lovina Centre and the beach are both in close proximity to this villa, which is down a quiet side street but within easy reach of the village’s conveniences.

FACILITIES | The decent-sized pool is ensconced in a pretty garden of bushes and trees that makes for a soothing setting for whiling away the day. Laundry services are included in the room rate, but you can also arrange for car rentals and airport transfers for an additional fee.

No meals are provided, we’re afraid, but given the location, it’s not difficult to find somewhere local to nosh.

ROOMS | Our favourite feature of this villa (aside from the private pool) is the sliding doors that connect the living room to the outdoor patio and dining area. Open them up, and you have a fabulous big space that’s perfect for socializing.

The three bedrooms comprise one twin room and two doubles, in addition to two bathrooms and a kitchen.

#15 Villa Agrapana Lovina – Impeccably Designed Villa Lovina Beach Bali.

Sleekly decorated in ever-so-trendy greys and whites, the Villa Agrapana is an incredibly stylish mansion that you won’t want to leave.

LOCATION | Just over 10 minutes from Lovina Beach, this house is concealed at the end of a leafy lane, isolated from the outside world.

FACILITIES | The pool is a rather modest if elegant affair that’s more for lounging than swimming. Breakfast is available for an additional fee, while parking can be had for free.

ROOMS | Everything here has been pristinely designed, from the walk-in closet to the open dining-living room. Three double bedrooms and three bathrooms supply space for six guests, who can eat outdoors or indoors.
